<Conjuctures have been made that Filson interviewed Boone either at the Lexington fort or Boone's Station (near Athens). Neither could be correct, as Lexington fort was razed in 1783 and Boone's Station abandoned in December, 1782. My guess is that it took place at Gen. Levi Todd's, whence a trace -- "trace to Boone's Station" (deed) -- led through the Shelby lands to "Col. Boone's" on Marble Creek. John Filson then resided with Gen Robert Todd, near Levi Todd, who also contributed data to Filson's History, and had his cabin at "Nesbit Spring" between the two places.> C.
