The stones from the original Missouri graves were, at the time of this note, in 1917, in the Museum of Central College, Fayette, MO. They had been identified as such by the "man who showed the Kentucky Commissioners to the graves," Marion McKinney (1822-1904), who had grown up in the neighborhood of the old graveyard, and was familiar with the location of the graves. After the disinternment, they were cast aside, and later were broken. DB's was about 5" by 13" and 3" thick, and carved "DANIEL BOON" [without the "e"]. RB's was 11" by 15" with a 12" circle on top, and carved "REBECCA BOON." "News and Comments," in MHR 11 (1916-17):230-31.
