IMLAY born circa 1758 in New Jersey; served in the Revolution; headed for Kentucky afterward. Left Pittsburg in March 1784, arrived at Limestone in five days. He had left Kentucky permanently by the fall of 1785, and in 1786 had fled the US for Europe. Wanted for a number of defaults; warrants issued by the Supreme Court beginning in 1787; county sheriffis reported he could not be found in their bailiwicks; advertisements issued that continued to appear until 1794.
