DB there in 10/1782 with William Hay, Flanders Callaway, William Cradlebough, Peter Harget, and others to look over the site with the intention of settling there. Boone had been there before with Alexander Barnett, Simon Kenton, and sixteen others two years previous. DB a trustee of Washington, the first town in what would become Mason county, in an act of the Virginia Assembly of 1786. 12/11/1787 Assembly passed an act establishing the town of Maysville, and DB, along with Jacob Boone, Thomas Brooks, and two others, were named trustees. DB probably lived in Limestone as early as the summer of 1786; he and his wife kept a tavern on Water, now Front Stree, near the corner of Sutton. Boone's Tavern, built in 1815, is the oldest house in Maysville, and is still standing [1936] on Front Stree, two doors west of Limestone Street. Daniel Boone, visiting his cousin Jacob, assisted in the erection. [This implies a trip to Kentucky in 1815] G.
