Crawford, Department of War, writes to Lewis Cass calling him to action. He states that the department needs to comply with the resolution of Congress of April 27th. He calls Cass to create and fully execute a list of all the agents, interpreters, and any other person that has been employed by his agency. He also calls Cass to then take this list and specify the amount of compensation, pay, and emoluments allowed to each state or country in which each person was born. An emolument is comparable to a salary. This is very much a call for swift and ethical action from Crawford to Cass.
