Stickney writes to Larned informing him that a Frenchman named Bartran from St. Joseph's is being <watch[ed] [by the Indians] very closely, so much so that they will not permit him to go to Detroit>. Stickney also says that the British are rounding up Indians to launch an attack on a fort in the spring. The British had taken the goods from two defeated vessels from Michillimackinac and distributed them amongst the Indians. Stickney thinks that a fleet should be placed in Lake Michigan in preparation of an imminent attack. The fort of Michillimackinac is also running short on supplies.
