Roll19_17 from July 22, 1825 from JD Dony to Governor Cass
|JD Dony is writing this piece to tell Governor Cass that he should bring military force to the Indian Country. He says that a <Mr. Cole> will be giving the governor Jd's thoughts on the Indians in custody in due time. Dony seems to want to capture the other Indians who were in involved in the robbery and murder in Michigan Territory. |
This letter has some spots that are difficult to read but throughout it seems that JD is asking for help in the Michigan area to take down these Indians. it seems to be connected to the letter before which leads you to believe that these people really wanted these Indians. At this time in history, the US and Indian relationship was not great and seems to be shown here. Sending troops after a few fugitives is excessive and would not have been done if whites committed the crime.
