This letter starts out by talking about how their are missionaries from the Baptist Missionary Society that are by Grand River which is near Lake Michigan. The letter then switches over to the Indians that are in this territory and even gives their numbers. The Moon-days have 35 members in the area and the Black Skin's have what I believe says 85. He also mentions that the Ottawas are in the area as well. The Missionaries are said to have been pressuring the Indians for their own benefit. The missionaries are trying to convert them over to a more normal way of life.
Throughout this letter Ramsay seems to be describing the way that these Indians are living. It definitely seems like they want to take their land but first they are giving these tribes a chance at conversions. It is unclear weather the tribes are accepting the missionaries but they have showed them around their grounds and what they eat. At the end of the letter, it talks about how the Indians had dinner with the missionaries.
Overall, this letter seems to be from the time when the US wanted to convert the tribes into "regular people".
