Roll19_20 from July 24, 1825 from Ramsay D'Potts to Unkown
|Throughout this note from Ramsay D'Potts, he seems to be talking about civilizing the Indians. In an attempt to do this, he has drawn up plans and costs to build the Indians a few buildings and a school. The first building seems to be a town hall building of sorts with multiple floors and lighting throughout. The cost of this building was estimated at $325. The second building is suppose to be a kitchen of sorts, it has multiple floors just like the first one. This building was valued at $250. The last building is a school house which would end up being a single floor. The building is estimated at $250. They add in a few other parts to the buildings it seems to make the grand total for everything at $875. |
This letter is a way for the US to try to convert the Indians from their regular life style. It seems that the government is trying to use money and their knowledge of technology (at the time) to bring in the Indians.
