Throughout this letter, John Johnston is telling Governor Gofs that the <additions and repairs> of the quaters have been completed. It seems to be that these additions and repairs have been done for the Agents and Agency as their is no mention of Indians throughout this letter. The total price for the repairs and the additions came out to be $229.50. Johnston goes on to say that he can make this payment for Governor Gofs and Gofs can pay him back. This letter is addressed from Upper Sandusky, which is right by the border of Ohio and Michigan. Based on letters from only a few months before this, it seems that these building could be used for the agency to either trade with the Indians or try to civilize them. There were many tribes around these areas at this time so some work must have been going on.
