This is another short letter but has some extremely important people on it from the U.S. government. The Treasurer of the United States is giving Governor Gofs a sum of $20,725.94. This sum is coming from the branch based out of New York of the Bank of the United States. This is a letter from Washington D.C. to the Michigan Territory. The letter does not specifically say what the sum amount is for but it does state that they are sending the money over early. Based on previous letters, we can make the assumption that this money could be used towards more annuities or claims dealing with the Indians. This money could be used to deal with another issue but the letter itself is coming straight from the capital of the United States and directly from the treasurer of the United Sates. This large sum of money must be used for something of vital importance to the Michigan territory.
