Puthuff continues his letter, saying he has two intelligent men at the post now, and hope in a few days to send another letter recapping the Indian relations at Drummond Island. He also notes no Indians have returned from Drummond Island yet. Puthuff concludes with a statement about a [Graverad] on Cass' payroll is to be paid at Detroit. Puthuff advises this person to get his pay from a Mr. Hamill, who will be visiting Cass. He finishes by asking Cass for a blank payroll, for he already advanced the money and paid a blacksmith, although he does not have a receipt.
