Crawford writes to Cass to inform him that John Johston and Benjamin Stickney are appointed to be Indian Agents at Fort Wayne. Crawford notes the Fort Wayne is centralized for all the Indian tribes in the area, and is the, "mark of resort for more than a century". Crawford notes that is has held an Indian Agency during the French rule, British rule, and now American rule. From Fort Wayne, they will be able to over see the Delawares upon White River, the Shawnee of [Wapakoneta], and the whole miami tribe(Miami was not capitalized, unlike the other two tribes mentioned). He notes there are some complaints against Stickney, but Crawford assures Cass they are from private and personal quarrels. He continues to assure Cass that Stickney is a good man with a good heart.
