B. F. Stickeny to Lewis Cass, Nov 13, 1815
|This correspondence is the same as one sent to the Secretary of War. |
<"The object of the British in calling a grand council of Indians in the winter, cannot be mistakened">. Stickeny is concerned that the Indians have been corresponding with the British, and is writing to Lewis Cass to inform him of the goings-on. He has ordered British traders to cease activity. The traders are loyal to the British policies. The Indians loyal to the United States are not willing to try to "break in" the British traders.
