Some American officers and soldiers were taken prisoner in the recent war and taken to remote places. Indians were found in ranks of British at Fort Meigs and Meigs was put under seige. Charles Postlewhait of Kentucky was said to be killed or taken prisoner, and his father has heard that he is still alive among distant tribes. Crawford tells Cass to <"make every question in your power to obtain the release of any prisoner who shall be discovered without waiting for the final instructions of the President">
