Unknown to William H. Crawford, September 27th, 1816
|Written from Detroit.|
The following exhibit will show the names, places of birth and compensation of those persons in the Indian Department who are appointed by me.
The document then goes on to list the names of those employees and their tribe or position, although some information seems to be inconsistent among entries. A wide variety of tribes are listed along with job positions from interpreter to story-keeper. It catalogues these positions and employees easily for Crawford to keep as record. Seven different tribes are explicitly mentioned throughout the documentation. The author of the document however, is not clearly stated.
