The letter starts out with Mr. Tipton talking about a recent treaty that seems to be in considererations. He goes on to talk about the other sides economy, yet it is difficult to understand. Mr. Tipton has set up a meeting with Governor May so thjat he can tell Lewis Gofs that he is backing his nomination for mayor. He then moves into talking about trading that is happening with the Indians. He mentions that they were able to secure 40 lbs of fresh beef, 10 lbs of duck and 250 lbs of flour.

Mr. Tipton starts to go into a different treaty, where the language seems to get more hostile. It seems that Mr. Tipton is talking about having men with bayonets be at the signing or meeting of the treaty so that the Indians could not get away with not doing it. Mr. Tipton goes into detail on where the meeting between the Indians is going to place and he also mentions that he will be running the negotiations. The way he is writing the letter makes it seem as though Mr. Tipton is very confident in his ability to be able to get the treaty done.
