The amount of Indians was reduced to 61. A letter was delivered to Subagent Vaughan on September 10th, 1847 that had to do with the fact that some of the people could remain in Indiana. There is a brief statement of the manner in which they performed the removal of the Miamis. There were many things that were subscribed in the contract.
In the spring of 2019, Dr. Cameron Shriver’s “Intro to the Miami Tribe” students researched the records of the Superintendent of Indian Affairs in the Michigan District (which included the Miami Tribe in northern Indiana) and files of the Office of Indian Affairs related to Miami Removal to west of the Mississippi River in 1846.
