This is a short correspondence which notes a few exchanges dating back to November 9th of the same year. The two have been corresponding over the details of a particular treaty which would give a large piece of Miami Tribe land to the federal government. They talk about getting <"the paper... signed"> which refers to the treaty in discussion.

Smaller territories such as the one in discussion may not seems as important to us today, however, the Ellsworth and D'Lenard take the matter quite seriously. This shows just how hungry settlers were for new land. This letter gives us an insight to the expansionism culture which dominated this time period and forced the Miami Tribe off of their beloved land in Indiana.
