The Indian who accompanies Richard Prickett, one of Puthuff's interpreters, from this post to Detroit. He will deliver Cass this note, and he hopes you will cause to be given a rifle gun if possible, to be procured. Puthuff says that the Indian who accompanies Prickett can be relied upon and he hopes that Cass will find him to be serving of reward for his labor and exposure in undertaking this journey. I made this request of you because of Puthuff's having no goods at this point in which to reward the Indian.
