It is time to send provisions to the military posts for the winter. A military officer must do the delivering. Cass asks for Macomb's help to dispatch a military officer, then specifies that 10,000 rations per month will be needed at Detroit, and Cass guesses that 5,000 rations at Michillimackinac, Green Bay, Chicago, and Fort Wayne should be reasonable. Cass requests that Macomb make the request for the contractor to furnish these provisions.
