This is not a very long letter but it describes what seems to be a debt paid to a part of the goverment. The total sum that he been paid is $10,332. The ending is difficult to read but the words Indian Agency can be made out. The agency was taking in a lot of money at this from the government. it seems that the US was very invested to get the Indians out of this land as quickly as possible.
After going through a number of these letters, Governor Gofs has a ton of letters detailing money transfers from the government to the agency. They must have been spending quite a lot on getting these tribes out.
