Filson, John

Daniel Bryan to LCD, [Lexington KY], 10/24/1843: <Abought the year 1783 a Mr. John Filson made application to Colo Boone for to copy some of the facts of his first adventures to Kentucky, Boone furnishd him with what is called Boone's Narrative -- this copy has been handed from one to another or the Matter stated untill it is so much adulterated & tangled that it is now hard to undersand [sic] -- perticularly by a person that has no knowledge of the original facts, yet the writers fix Boons signator to their details if you had Boone's Naritive as he wrote it himself it would be plain and intillagible to you. %This is the way that I account for the Many errors in Boons Narritive Boone didnot pen the errors himself.> 22C9[6]
